The Bahraini delegation made a striking appearance at the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics, sailing down the Seine River in a special boat.
Mission Director Mr Ahmed Abdul Ghaffar stated that the administrative delegation's efforts with the organizing committee secured a unique boat for the Bahraini delegation, ensuring their distinct presence without sharing the boat with any other country, unlike many other delegations.
He added, "It was a historic moment filled with appreciation from the crowds along the river and significant media and public interaction. The delegation departed at 4 pm French time, and we ensured that flag bearers Saud Salah and Amani Al-Obaidli were well-rested before the official start of the ceremony at 7:30 pm. Fortunately, it did not rain during our passage."
He noted the admiration for the traditional costumes worn by Amani, designed by Mohammed Saleh Al Zari stores, and Saud's attire from Aswaf Al Bahrain stores.
He concluded, "Although it rained heavily later, soaking us all, these are the moments of pride and honour that make representing our country so special, despite any fatigue or challenges we faced."
