Medical Committee Organises First Aid Training Workshop in Preparation for the International School Games "Bahrain 2024"

The Medical Committee has organised a series of first aid training workshops for 170 secondary school students in preparation for the International School Games "Bahrain 2024." The event, scheduled to take place in October, will be held under the high royal patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the country's king.

The workshop has two primary objectives: firstly, to involve students as volunteers within the medical team, supporting medical crews during the tournament, and secondly, to create lasting value by certifying trained students as part of the 'A Paramedic in Every Home' initiative. This initiative equips students with life-saving skills and empowers them to be active contributors to their communities in times of need. This project is one of the Ministry of Health's collaborations with the Ministry of Education and was a winning entry in the Government Creativity Competition (Fikra Initiative).

Iman Ahmed Haji, Head of the Medical Committee, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating: "This workshop is a key step in preparing volunteers to contribute effectively during the tournament, ensuring the safety of participants. We are proud of the significant progress and unwavering commitment demonstrated by the students, which reflects our dedication to providing high-level training."

Participants expressed gratitude for the training, noting that these skills will enhance their ability to assist during the tournament and their everyday lives, reinforcing their volunteer contributions. Their role as first aid responders will be crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants, underscoring the significant impact of their contributions to the success of the International School Games.

The workshop forms part of the preparations for the International School Games "Bahrain 2024," the most prominent school sporting event in history. Over 80 countries will participate, and over 5,000 students will compete across 25 sports.
