Lounes Madene, President of the Technical Committee for the International School Games, expressed great optimism ahead of the event, which is scheduled in Bahrain from 23 to 31 October under the Royal Patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Madene emphasised that the committee is finalising all arrangements to ensure the smooth and successful organisation of this major sporting event.
“We are in the final steps before the games start and working diligently to finalise all matters concerning the referees. Although we have several referees in Bahrain, certain games require internationally certified referees, and we are working with the International School Sport Federation (ISF) to bring in these referees from neighbouring regions, particularly from GCC countries,” Madene explained.
He also highlighted that the preparations are progressing swiftly, with all the equipment and tools for each sport being organised at the game venues. These preparations are expected to be completed a week before the event. “The technical committee has developed comprehensive plans to ensure the smooth execution of all competitions, from match schedules to transport and accommodation arrangements for teams and officials,” Madene added.
Meetings with various technical teams are organized to finalise all competitions' timings, venues, and logistics. The committee ensures that all participants receive logistical and technical support, guaranteeing all involved a smooth and successful sporting experience.
Madene also noted that the International School Games provide a unique platform for cultural and athletic exchanges between the participating countries. With 80 school sports federations from 70 countries participating and more than 5,500 athletes registered, this year’s event far exceeds initial expectations. He pointed out that such extensive participation strengthens international youth connections through sports.
In conclusion, Madene invited everyone to witness and participate in this significant international event, affirming that Bahrain is prepared to host a unique edition of the International School Games, reinforcing its position as a capable organiser of global sports events.
