Seef District - Bahrain Olympic Committee:
The Regional Olympic Solidarity Forum, alongside the Olympic Council of Asia, was inaugurated on Wednesday, June 5th, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Hosted by the Kingdom of Bahrain through June 6th, the event welcomed participation from 25 Olympic committees and was organized by the Bahrain Olympic Committee in cooperation with the Olympic Council of Asia.
The opening ceremony was graced by the presence of His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, alongside notable figures such as Dr. Thani bin Abdul Rahman Al Kuwari, Vice President of the Qatar Olympic Committee and for West Asia of the Olympic Council of Asia, and Dr. Hussein Al Musallam, Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia. His Excellency Mr. Faris Mustafa Al Kooheji, Secretary-General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, was also in attendance.
The ceremony commenced with remarks from Dr. Hussein Al Musallam, who extended his gratitude to the Kingdom of Bahrain for its exemplary hosting and organization. He welcomed His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa and other distinguished guests, acknowledging the significant contributions of the participating Asian Olympic committees.
His Excellency Mr. Faris Al Kooheji delivered a speech conveying greetings from His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, praising the Olympic Council of Asia's leadership and expressing pride in Bahrain's role as host of a Council branch office. Al Kooheji celebrated the success of recent Asian Games and the ongoing contributions of the Olympic Solidarity Committee towards educational programs within the Olympic Movement.
His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Abdul Rahman Al Kuwari also addressed the attendees, appreciating Bahrain's hospitality and the collective efforts of the West Asian Olympic committees to enhance regional collaboration.
The ceremony concluded with an exchange of gifts between His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa and Dr. Thani bin Abdul Rahman Al Kuwari, marking the beginning of the forum's sessions. The agenda included presentations on the upcoming 2025 Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China, and the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Thailand, scheduled for November.
