Seef District - Bahrain Olympic Committee:
His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of Cabinet Affairs and Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, lauded the robust fraternal ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arab Republic of Egypt, founded on strong pillars of friendship, mutual respect, and bilateral collaboration across various domains, particularly in the realm of sports.
This affirmation came during his reception at the headquarters of the Olympic Committee in Seef District, where he welcomed the President of the Egyptian Basketball Federation, Mr. Magdy Abu Farikha, alongside several members of the Egyptian Federation's Board of Directors, and the respective missions of Egyptian Al-Ahly Club, represented by Mr. Al-Amri Farouk Mohamed Al-Amri, and Egyptian Zamalek Club, represented by Mr. Ahmed Adel, during their official visit to the Kingdom for the Egyptian Super Cup competitions ("Sallawi"), scheduled for Friday, October 20, 2023. The event was attended by Wissam Baqir, Vice President of the Basketball Federation, and Secretary-General Ahmed Youssef.
His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa extended a warm welcome to the Egyptian delegation, expressing his profound delight at the presence of the Egyptian brethren in the Kingdom of Bahrain, their second home, for the inaugural edition of the Egyptian Super Cup, featuring two of the most esteemed Egyptian and Arab clubs, Al-Ahly and Zamalek, both renowned for their widespread popularity in the Republic of Egypt and the Arab world.
He commended the esteemed stature of Egyptian sports in general, and Egyptian basketball in particular, expressing pride in hosting the Egyptian Super Cup for Basketball on Bahraini soil, as a result of the collaboration between the Bahraini and Egyptian Basketball Federations in partnership and coordination with the Bahrain Olympic Committee and its Egyptian counterpart.
His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa emphasized the significance of sustaining and advancing this initiative to bolster cooperation between the two entities, proposing the possibility of arranging a match between the Bahrain Stars team and the two clubs or organizing a Bahraini-Egyptian Super Cup, fostering mutual benefit and fostering the relationship between the two entities.
He further praised the progress of Al-Ahly and Zamalek clubs, acknowledging their rich history and prominent standing in the Arab world, extending his best wishes for success to both clubs in the upcoming final.
The meeting concluded with the exchange of mementos between His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa and the distinguished guests.
