Bahrain's Volleyball Team Nears Gold at First Gulf Youth Games

In an exhilarating clash at the Al Nasr Club hall in Dubai, Bahrain's national volleyball team edged closer to gold by defeating the UAE team three sets to two in the penultimate round of the first Gulf Youth Games. The match, held on Wednesday, showcased a tight contest with scores of (25-22, 29-31, 25-23, 21-25, 15-9), setting the stage for Bahrain's final challenge against Oman today.

Presence of Dignitaries and Game Dynamics

The game was attended by Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, President of the Bahrain Volleyball Federation, and Fajr Jassim, Director of the delegation, among other officials. Despite fluctuating performance levels and some technical setbacks, particularly in blocking and defense, Bahrain's team demonstrated resilience. After a rocky start, they regained control in the decisive fifth set with robust defense and strategic plays, marking their fifth consecutive victory in the tournament.

Table Tennis Success

Simultaneously, Bahrain's table tennis teams showed strong form in the individual team competition, with victories in both morning and evening sessions. The youth category players, Mohammed Al-Aali, Hussein Safwan, and Ali Mohammed, triumphed 3-0 over their Kuwaiti counterparts. Female players Kinda Mohammed and Fatima Al-Aali matched this success with a 3-0 win against the UAE. Additionally, a win over the Omani team highlighted the day, although a subsequent match against Qatar ended in a 3-0 loss.

Handball Team Secures Another Win

In handball, Bahrain continued its winning streak by overcoming the UAE team 28-24 in a match held at the Al Batha Club hall in Sharjah. Leading 13-10 at halftime, the team strengthened its position in the tournament, enhancing its chances of securing a medal in the upcoming final rounds against Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. 

Bahrain's athletes remain committed to excelling in their respective disciplines, aiming to conclude the Gulf Youth Games on a high note with hopes of significant medal gains.

Bahrain Volleyball Team Poised for Gold in Final Showdown at Gulf Youth Games

On the conclusive day of the Gulf Youth Games, Bahrain's national volleyball team is set to clinch the gold medal as it faces Oman in a decisive match at 10:00 AM today, Thursday, at the Al-Nasr Club hall in Dubai. Riding a wave of five consecutive victories, the team aims to conclude its stellar run unbeaten, demonstrating resilience and determination throughout the tournament.

Cycling Team Eyes Further Success

The cycling team is also back in action early this morning at 6:00 AM, Kingdom of Bahrain time, on the Abu Dhabi Cycling Club track. Today’s challenge includes an individual time trial over 40 kilometers featuring our athletes Hassan Thamer, Muhammad Hassan, and Al-Baraa. Following this, our youth cyclists Mahdi Muhammad, Ahmed Muhammad, and Muhammad Thamer will tackle a 70-kilometer race, building on yesterday’s bronze medal achievement with high hopes for more accolades.

Table Tennis Team Continues Competition

Meanwhile, the table tennis team resumes its campaign with four matches across the youth and girls categories at the Ahli Dubai Youth Hall. The day starts with the youth team facing Oman at 10:00 AM, while the girls’ team takes on Kuwait. The youth team will also compete against the UAE team at 4:00 PM, all aiming to deliver strong performances and advance further in the tournament.

Triathlon Team Debuts with High Hopes

Arriving yesterday, the national triathlon team is gearing up for its debut in the triathlon and duathlon events, with high expectations to earn medals. The team, managed by Federation Secretary General Hamad Al-Mulla and coached by Mubarak Mohammed, includes athletes Abdul Rahman Al-Hassan, Ahmed Tariq, Hamed Al-Hamrani, and Mohammed Janahi. With rigorous preparations and a strategic training regimen in place, the athletes are well-poised to make significant impacts in their respective events.

As the first Gulf Youth Games draw to a close, Bahrain’s athletes continue to showcase their prowess, striving for excellence and aiming to end the games on a high note with additional medals and potential championship titles.

Bahrain Targets Further Glory at Gulf Youth Games

As the first Gulf Youth Games progress, Bahrain's national teams continue their robust participation, aiming to augment their impressive medal tally. As of the tenth day, Thursday, the Kingdom of Bahrain has amassed a total of 35 medals—comprising 9 gold, 11 silver, and 14 bronze—across a range of team and individual sports. The games, hosted by the United Arab Emirates, have seen spirited performances from every Bahraini competitor, each striving for top honors and the opportunity to enhance the Kingdom's standing with further successes. As the competitions unfold, Bahrain’s athletes remain focused on excelling in their respective fields, driven by the ambition to secure more victories and colorful medals.
