Bahrain's Innovative Proposal Triumphs at Gulf Women’s Sports Hackathon

In a significant achievement for gender equality in sports, the Bahrain Olympic Committee's delegation, representing the Committee for Equal Opportunities between the Genders, secured the top honor at the Gulf Women’s Sports Hackathon. This prestigious event was organized by the Oman Olympic Committee in the Sultanate of Oman from March 1 to 4.

The award-winning project, “Discovering, Nurturing, and Developing Sports Talents,” crafted by Salama Ateeq, Wafaa Al-Jazzaf, Nouf Hayel Al-Qahtani, and Dana Abdul-Latif Abdul-Khaleq, was celebrated as the best sports program idea among submissions from across the Gulf region.

On this auspicious occasion, Her Excellency Shaikha Dr. Hessa bint Khalid Al Khalifa, Board Member of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and Chairperson of the Equal Opportunities Committee between the Genders, highlighted the Bahraini team's victory as a testament to the exceptional planning and program development skills possessed by Bahraini women. This recognition underscores their vital contribution to advancing the sports sector, especially in promoting women’s sports.

Her Excellency emphasized the critical importance of the winning idea focused on "discovering, nurturing, and developing sports talents." She pointed out its significant positive impact on creating champions, supporting clubs, and bolstering national teams, emphasizing that talent cultivation is crucial for ushering in a new era of female athletes across various sports disciplines.

Additionally, Her Excellency extended her gratitude to the Oman Olympic Committee and its Committee for Women’s Sports and Gender Equality, led by Mrs. Sanaa bint Hamad Al Busaidiyah, for their exceptional hospitality and the successful organization of the Hackathon. This initiative plays a pivotal role in promoting women's sports across the Gulf Cooperation Council countries. She commended the initiative's success and expressed her wishes for continued progress and success for the Oman Olympic Committee.
