Today marks the kickoff of the first Gulf Youth Games, hosted by the United Arab Emirates from April 16 to May 2. This inaugural event sees approximately 3,500 athletes from across the region competing in 24 sports, united by the theme "Our Gulf is One... Our Youth is Promising."

Bahrain's national football team begins its quest at the Games with an opening match against Kuwait at 7:30 PM, Bahrain time, at Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The team aims to start strong, showcasing a high level of technical skill to secure early points in the tournament. This match is critical as it could significantly influence their standing against other contenders like the UAE and Oman.

The team arrived two days ago and has been actively preparing, wrapping up their final strategic training session yesterday at the Cricket Club 4 courts. Today’s game will follow an earlier match between the UAE and Oman national teams at the same venue. The competition format is straightforward: teams compete in a single round-robin tournament, with the highest-scoring team crowned as the champion.

Ali Al-Sakran: We Are Ready

Ali Al-Sakran, the technical analyst for Bahrain’s national youth team, announced the team's readiness for the Gulf Youth Games, citing exceptional preparation levels that have boosted the players' technical and physical readiness. "Our aim is to deliver our best for this promising group, the future core of Bahraini football," stated Al-Sakran. He expressed confidence in the team’s potential and hoped for a successful tournament outcome that reflects honorably on Bahrain.

In parallel, Yesterday, Bahrain's taekwondo team commenced their weigh-in procedure for all competitors in preparation for the youth category competitions at the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah. Following the conclusion of these weigh-ins, the competition matchups will be finalized and announced today. The bouts are scheduled to begin tomorrow. Representing Bahrain are nine athletes, split across various weight categories: Youssef Qambar (under 45 kg), Hazza Al-Saadi (under 59 kg), Abdullah Al-Tahaina (under 68 kg), Abdullah Al-Haddi (under 73 kg), Youssef Khosravi (under 78 kg), Hessa Bin Thani (46 kg), Fatima Makki (49 kg), Nouf Muhammad (55 kg), and Aisha Abdullah (68 kg).

Bahrain's Taekwondo Team Geared Up for Gulf Youth Games

Abdul Hamid Ibrahim, the administrator for Bahrain's Taekwondo team, has declared the team ready for the upcoming Gulf Youth Games. Despite the brief time together, the athletes have prepared intensively and bring a wealth of experience from previous Gulf and international competitions, where they secured gold and silver medals. Ibrahim expressed high hopes for the team's success and aspirations for top medals in the fiercely competitive event.

Fajr Jassim Engages in Strategic Gulf Youth Games Meeting

Fajr Jassim, a member of Bahrain's Olympic Committee and the Director of Bahrain's Mission, attended a crucial coordination meeting for the Gulf Youth Games. The meeting, held at the Marriott Hotel in Dubai, focused on various aspects of team participation and pre-event preparations. Discussions ensured that all logistical and technical details were addressed before the games begin on April 16th.

Bahrain Athletics Teams Arrive in UAE for Gulf Youth Games

The latest contingents of Bahrain’s national teams, including the Athletics and Paralympic athletics squads, have arrived in Dubai to compete in the first Gulf Youth Games. Greeted by the administrative team, the athletes moved into the Hilton Hotel, ready to start their competitions. Representing Bahrain in athletics are Salem Bakhit, Ahmed Mahmoud, Maysa Al-Tamimi, and Maryam Mohammed, while the Paralympic team includes Ahmed Mahmoud, Sayed Hussein Ahmed, Fatima Ahmed, and Zeina Al-Balushi. The Dubai Police Officers Club will host these events, showcasing some of the best athletic talents from the region.

Bahrain Olympic Committee to Stream Team Sports Live on YouTube

The Bahrain Olympic Committee has announced that it will live stream group sports competitions such as football, volleyball, and basketball from the first Gulf Youth Games on its YouTube channel, "Bahrain Olympic Committee." This initiative is part of the committee's commitment to enhance media and electronic content and ensure Bahraini fans can continuously follow the national teams' performances. The effort to provide comprehensive and updated coverage on digital platforms reflects the committee's dedication to promoting the success of Bahrain's athletes and maintaining the Kingdom's esteemed reputation on the international stage.
