Bahrain Records Largest Participation in the History of the International School Games

The Executive Office of the International School Sports Federation announced that the Kingdom of Bahrain has recorded the largest participation in the history of the International School Games, hosting the 17th edition with a remarkable attendance of 5,515 athletes from 71 countries. This unprecedented turnout makes the 2024 edition of the International School Games the largest ever, far exceeding previous editions.

This achievement underscores Bahrain’s ability to host large-scale international tournaments and attract sporting talent from across the globe, solidifying its status as a leading destination for global sporting events. It also enhances Bahrain’s strong reputation in the field of sports, reflecting the Kingdom’s investment in infrastructure and advanced facilities, which contribute to developing young athletes and promoting sports on an international scale.

Figures presented by the Executive Office at the General Assembly meeting revealed that the Normandy, France 2022 edition saw the participation of 3,191 athletes from 62 countries, while Marrakech, Morocco 2018 hosted 2,474 athletes from 56 countries. The Belgrade, Serbia 2021 edition featured 1,849 athletes from 36 countries, and the most recent edition in Brazil 2023 registered 1,944 athletes from 42 countries.

Bahrain’s robust sports infrastructure has played a crucial role in this achievement, with events being hosted in world-class facilities such as Khalifa Sports City, Isa Sports City, and the Bahrain National Stadium. Hosting this monumental edition further confirms Bahrain’s commitment to delivering a world-class sporting event, while providing all the technical and logistical support necessary to ensure the tournament's success, enhancing its reputation as a top-tier organiser of international events.
