The Indian School (Girls) team secured a thrilling victory over the Pakistani School team to claim the cricket title on the fifth day of the 6th School Games, organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee from 23 September to 3 October. This tournament is part of the Committee's efforts to nurture young talents across various sports.
Today's schedule promises excitement. Handball resuming after a two-day break, alongside beach volleyball, athletics, fencing, and tennis. As some sports move towards the final stages, the competition intensifies, with teams showcasing solid performances to maintain their competitive edge.
This local championship is being held just days before the Kingdom of Bahrain hosts the International School Games (Bahrain 2024), the largest event of its kind. 5,000 students from 80 countries will compete in 25 sports.
In judo, the 55kg weight class results were as follows: Bader Al Awadi took first place, Jassim Mohammed second, and Hamad Fouad third. In the 66kg weight class, Hamad Al Khalidi won first place, followed by Taim Al Khalidi in second and Abdullah Falah in third. In the 73kg class, Mohammed Khalid secured the top spot, while Soumail Kobe came second and Mohammed Khalid third. Pedro claimed first place in the over 73kg category, followed by Youssef Shararah in second and Ali Al Qurain in third.
The School Games feature 19 sports, including basketball, handball, beach volleyball, athletics, swimming, fencing, tennis, table tennis, karate, chess, badminton, taekwondo, judo, boxing, gymnastics, cycling, cricket, padel, and sailing.
Competitions are spread across multiple venues: Umm Al Hassam Hall for basketball and handball, Isa Sports City for beach volleyball, athletics, table tennis, chess, badminton, taekwondo, judo, and cricket, Khalifa City for swimming, fencing at Umm Al Hassam Hall, tennis at the Polytechnic University courts, gymnastics at Sanad Gymnastics Hall, cycling at Al Jazeera Beach, padel at the Padel Hall, and sailing at Plage Al Jazaer Beach.
