The organising committee has announced the formation of a specialised Anti-Doping Committee, in collaboration with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), to ensure fair competition according to international standards at the upcoming International School Games "Bahrain 2024," held under the royal patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
The committee will ensure fairness by conducting random drug tests on participating athletes throughout the event. Athletes from various sports will be selected randomly to undergo testing. This effort reflects Bahrain's commitment to upholding fairness in sports and ensuring safe and equitable competition for all participants.
The anti-doping process involves several precise steps, from notifying selected athletes to collecting samples in designated centres under the supervision of accredited specialists. The samples will be sent to certified international laboratories for analysis, adhering to the highest global standards to guarantee full compliance with sports integrity rules.
In addition to testing, the committee will also conduct workshops to educate athletes and coaches about the risks of doping, including its harmful effects on health and performance. These efforts will further highlight the importance of adhering to applicable regulations to foster a culture of sportsmanship among young athletes.
Transparency will be a key feature of our process, ensured through regular publication of test results. Ongoing support will be provided to athletes, enabling them to understand their rights and responsibilities concerning anti-doping measures.
All these initiatives, a testament to Bahrain's unwavering dedication, demonstrate the country's commitment to hosting a sports event that upholds the highest standards of fairness and integrity. This commitment reinforces Bahrain's status as a leading global sports destination, providing reassurance to all involved in the International School Games.
