At the conclusion of the first Gulf Youth Games hosted by the United Arab Emirates, Shikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, a member of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and President of the Bahrain Table Tennis Federation, presented medals to the victorious Bahraini table tennis team. The ceremony was attended by Fajr Jassim, Vice President of the Federation, Ali Al-Madeh, and other dignitaries from Gulf federations.
Shaikha Hayat awarded Fatima Al-Aali gold medals for her outstanding performances in the young women’s doubles and singles categories. The youth team received silver medals in the team and doubles categories, while bronze medals were awarded for the young women’s doubles and singles events. In a standout match, our national team’s player bested Maryam Al-Halwachi of Kuwait with a score of 3-0 in the women’s singles final, marking her third gold of the tournament. Dana Al-Khayyat added a bronze to the tally, which included a total of eight medals won by the team: three golds, two silvers, and three bronzes.
Swimming Team Dazzles with Six Medals on Debut
The Bahraini swimming team made a spectacular debut at the Gulf Youth Games, capturing six medals, including four golds. Young swimmer Sanaa Lillian dominated the under-18 girls' freestyle races, securing gold in both the 800 meters (9:39:29) and 400 meters (5:26:18). Amani Al-Obaidly continued Bahrain's gold rush with a victory in the 400-meter backstroke (1:05:77), and Aya Adel clinched another in the 50-meter breaststroke (37:75 seconds).
Additionally, Shahad Abdulaziz and Hashem Mohammed both earned bronze medals in their respective 100-meter backstroke races, contributing to the team’s impressive medal haul. These achievements underscore the skill and preparation of Bahraini swimmers and spotlight the Bahrain swimming team's emerging prominence on the Gulf sports stage.
Al-Hassan Dominates Duathlon, Al-Hallaq Secures Silver at Gulf Youth Games
At the first Gulf Youth Games, Abdul Rahman Al-Hassan of the Bahrain national triathlon team clinched his second gold medal in the duathlon race, solidifying his status as a champion with a finish time of 1:05:19 hours. This victory follows his previous day’s triumph in the triathlon race, underscoring his formidable prowess in multi-sport events. Al-Hassan excelled despite the back-to-back races, skillfully managing the duathlon's demanding segments—5 km running, 20 km cycling, and another 2.5 km running—to secure the gold.
His teammate, Ahmed Tariq Al-Hallaq, also showcased his talent by capturing the silver medal with a time of 1:06:34 hours, adding to his previous day's bronze in the triathlon. Their outstanding performances brought the triathlon team’s total to four medals—two golds, a silver, and a bronze—concluding their participation with significant achievements and highlighting the strength of Bahrain’s triathlon sports on a regional scale.

In an exciting development at the Gulf Youth Games, Bahraini billiards players, brothers Haider and Hussein Marum, have advanced to the semi-finals of the 9-ball competition. After each securing victories in their respective quarter-final matches, the brothers are set to face each other in a familial showdown to determine who will advance to the finals. The other semi-final will feature Saudi Arabia’s Khaled Al-Ghamdi against Mohammed Al Jasmi from the UAE.
Both Haider and Hussein enter the semi-finals buoyed by their recent successes in the 8-ball competition, where Haider clinched the gold medal and Hussein took silver. Today, Sunday, marks the culmination of their participation, as they will compete in the final rounds of the 9-ball individual and doubles competitions, concluding the billiards events of the tournament.
Fencing Team Arrives as Last Participants at the Gulf Youth Games
The Bahrain national fencing team arrived yesterday, Saturday, as the final contingent to join the first Gulf Youth Games. The team will begin its competitive journey on Monday and Tuesday at the Zayed Sports Complex in Fujairah. Participating in both individual and team events for the épée and foil disciplines, the team includes six athletes: Abdul Rahman Tariq Shamal, Hussein Naeem Karmastji, Omar Abdullah Bu Khalifa, Nour Firas Al-Jowder, Sumaya Muhammad Bu Hazza, and Zainab Ahmed Al Majid.
Bahrain’s Medal Tally Reaches 60 at Gulf Youth Games
As the competitions progress, Bahrain’s national teams have collectively amassed an impressive total of 60 medals at the Gulf Youth Games, marking a significant milestone.
