The first session of the Executive Committee for the Unified Platform Project for Gulf Women’s Sports took place online. This initiative is an outcome of the Advisory Committee for Women’s Sports, operating under the Executive Office of the Council of Presidents of Olympic Committees in GCC countries. The primary focus of the meeting was to define the roles of committee members and create a strategic development plan, aligning with the overarching goal of enhancing women’s sports in the Gulf region.

Chaired by Engineer Ghalia Al Mannai, a Board Member of the Emirates Women’s Sports Federation and Chair of the Executive Committee for the Gulf Women’s Sports Platform, the meeting included esteemed members such as Wafa Ibrahim Khalil Salman Al-Jazzaf, Head of Support for Youth Centers at the Ministry of Youth Affairs in Bahrain, and a member of the Equal Opportunities and Gender Balance Committee in the sports domain in Bahrain. Other members comprised Modi Abdulaziz Al-Sudairi, a senior international relations specialist at the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee; Saada Bint Salem Al-Ismailia, Vice President of the Omani Committee for Women’s Sports and Gender Equality; and Maha Yousef Al-Abdul-Jabbar, Assistant Secretary of the Qatari Women’s Sports Committee.

The proposal to establish a unified platform for Gulf women’s sports, put forth by the Advisory Committee for Women’s Sports under the Executive Office of the Council of Presidents of Olympic Committees in GCC countries, was greenlit during the 97th meeting of the Executive Office. The UAE spearheaded this initiative with the goal of promoting collaboration with federations and institutions dedicated to women's sports in the GCC countries.

Noura Al Suwaidi expressed her pleasure at the continuous encouragement and support from the Advisory Committee for Women’s Sports. The Unified Platform Project for Gulf Women’s Sports, she noted, seeks to enhance cooperation and highlight the achievements of women in sports across the GCC. Dr. Sheikha Hessa bint Khalid Al Khalifa of the Bahrain Olympic Committee praised the UAE's proposal for its positive goals in advancing women's sports and showcasing success stories. She thanked the UAE Olympic Committee and Noura Al Suwaidi for their commitment to the development of women’s sports in the Gulf.
