Seef District – Bahrain Olympic Committee:
Mr. Faris Mustafa Al-Kooheji, the Secretary-General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, was present at the ninety-seventh Executive Office meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council's esteemed Presidents of Olympic Committees, held on Sunday, October 15, 2023, in Muscat, Oman. The meeting, under the leadership of Mr. Taha Al-Koshari, Secretary-General of the Oman Olympic Committee, emphasized the need to reinforce efforts in implementing the strategic plan for collaborative Gulf sports initiatives.
An endorsement was made for the inaugural Gulf Youth Games, scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates in April 2024. The proposed games received the organizing committee's green light during the session.
Additionally, the recommendations put forth by the Women's Sports Committee, the Athletes Committee, the Sports Committee, and the Paralympic Sports Committee, all associated with the Executive Office, were duly approved.
A dedicated task force was appointed to deliberate on aspects of mutual international cooperation between the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and developed nations within the sports domain, with a focus on ensuring the feasibility and added value of such collaborations.
Furthermore, there was an agreement to activate the mechanism for the exchange of experts and specialists in the sports sector within the GCC countries, as well as other relevant fields that could benefit from this exchange. Special emphasis was placed on implementing the General Secretariat's initiative for on-the-job training.
In other significant developments, it was determined that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would host the inaugural Gulf Indoor Games from September 30 to October 9, 2024.
