The First International Physical Literacy Conference, held under the patronage of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, concluded today, December 3, 2024. Organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee in collaboration with the University of Bahrain and the Canadian Organisation Sport for Life Society, the conference took place at Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Hall, University of Bahrain.

The closing ceremony was attended by Dr Fuad Mohammed AlAnsari, President of the University of Bahrain, and Her Excellency Shaikha Dr Hessa bint Khalid Al Khalifa, Member of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and Chairperson of the Committee for Equal Opportunities between Genders in the Sports Field. A number of directors and senior officials from the Bahrain Olympic Committee and the University of Bahrain were also present.

The closing ceremony commenced with a tour of the accompanying exhibition for senior attendees, followed by a screening of a conference documentary produced by the Bahrain Olympic Committee's Media Department. Her Excellency Shaikha Dr Hessa bint Khalid Al Khalifa, on behalf of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, delivered the first speech, followed by Dr Fuad Mohammed AlAnsari, President of the University of Bahrain. The final speech was presented by Mr Richard Wee, representing the Canadian Organisation Sport for Life Society.

To conclude the ceremony, Her Excellency Shaikha Dr Hessa bint Khalid Al Khalifa launched the book on physical literacy ‘’Sports for Life,’’ published by the Olympic Academy affiliated with the Bahrain Olympic Committee. Commemorative shields were then presented to the conference partners: the Ministry of Education, the University of Bahrain, and the Canadian Organisation Sport for Life Society.
