The Bahrain Olympic Committee, led by Secretary-General His Excellency Mr. Faris Mustafa Al-Kooheji, attended the 43rd General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia on May 11, 2024, in Bangkok, Thailand. The meeting, presided over by Acting President Mr. Raja Randhir Singh, welcomed representatives from 45 Asian Olympic Committees.

The Bahrain delegation, including Board member and Director of International and Arab Relations Mrs. Fajr Jassim, alongside Director of Coordination and Follow-up Mr. Muhammad Al-Balushi, participated in comprehensive discussions and agenda reviews during the assembly.

The assembly featured an opening address by Mr. Singh and a virtual address by Mr. Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee. A significant development for Bahrain was the approval to host a branch office of the Olympic Council of Asia, a testament to the Kingdom's robust contributions under the leadership of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The new office has been fully equipped and readied for operations.

Further discussions at the assembly included the Finance Committee’s report, which highlighted annual revenues of approximately $9 million and acknowledged the collaboration with Bahrain’s GFH Financial Group in supporting the council’s initiatives.

The session also celebrated the presentation of the Olympic Council of Asia awards and covered detailed reports from the Acting President, Vice-Presidents, various regional representatives, and committee heads. Preparations for upcoming events such as the Futsal and Martial Arts Games in Thailand, the Asian Winter Games in Harbin, the Asian Youth Games in Tashkent, and the Asian Games in Nagoya were thoroughly reviewed, setting the stage for future sporting excellence in Asia.
