Seef District – Bahrain Olympic Committee: His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Deputy Chairman of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, has commended the efforts of the Ministry of Tourism and the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority in collaboration with the Bahrain Olympic Committee to successfully host the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Congress and the Celebrity Honouring Ceremony, set to take place from May 14–18 in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

His Highness made these remarks during a meeting with Her Excellency Ms Fatima bint Jaffar Al-Sairafi, Minister of Tourism, in the presence of Her Excellency Ms Sarah Buheji, President of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, and Mr Alaa Madara, President of the Bahrain Basketball Association.

During the meeting, His Highness was briefed on the latest preparations undertaken by the Ministry and the Authority to organise this prestigious international event, which is being hosted in Bahrain for the first time. He praised the strong partnership between the tourism sector and the Bahrain Olympic Committee, highlighting the significant role played by Her Excellency Ms Fatima bint Jaffar Al-Sairafi in ensuring that all necessary resources are in place to guarantee the event’s success.

His Highness emphasised the importance of this high-profile sporting event, which reinforces Bahrain’s standing on the global sports map. He also lauded the ongoing cooperation between the Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Tourism, which plays a vital role in attracting international championships, boosting sports tourism, and enhancing Bahrain’s appeal as a premier destination for major global events.

Additionally, the meeting explored ways to strengthen cooperation between the sports and tourism sectors to ensure the successful and distinguished organisation of the FIBA Congress and other international events, further solidifying Bahrain’s reputation as a leading hub for hosting world-class sporting events.
