The Bahrain Olympic Committee proudly welcomed back world snooker champions Habib Sabah and Hisham Alsaqr after their outstanding performance in the recently concluded World Snooker Championship in Doha. The champions, who secured two gold medals, one in the Masters competition by Habib Sabah and another in the team championship with Hisham Alsaqr, achieved historic success for Bahraini snooker.

Munther Jawad Al-Basri, President of the Bahrain Billiards, Snooker, and Darts Federation, and Maden Al-Wanas, Director of the Technical Affairs Department of the Olympic Committee, led the reception at Bahrain International Airport on Sunday, November 26, 2023. The champions were warmly greeted with flowers in the presence of snooker enthusiasts, the players' families and friends, and members of the Union Board of Directors.

Expressing his heartfelt congratulations, Al-Basri attributed this achievement to the steadfast support of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, recognizing the pivotal role played by the General Sports Authority and the Bahrain Olympic Committee.

Habib Sabah, the master's gold winner, and Hisham Alsaqr, the team gold recipient, conveyed their joy for the global accomplishment, emphasizing that it was a challenging journey given the tournament's intensity and the participation of world-class players. Their success, they noted, was a testament to their fighting spirit, determination, and perseverance, marking a golden chapter in Bahrain's sporting history, especially in snooker.
