Bahrain Gears Up for Sixth Edition of School Olympics

Seef District - Bahrain Olympic Committee: 

The Bahrain Olympic Committee, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, is gearing up for the much-anticipated sixth edition of the School Olympics, slated for September 15 to 26, 2024. A key preparatory meeting was held with physical education teachers from public and private schools at the Shaikh Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Hall. The session featured notable attendees including Dr. Nader Jamali, Director of the Ministry of Physical Education, Mr. Ahmed Abdul Ghaffar, Executive Director of the Olympic Committee, along with other distinguished officials.

The meeting focused on finalizing preparations and elucidating the competition's regulations. Introduced in 2014, the Olympics has progressively expanded from four sports to an impressive lineup of twenty-eight sports for the upcoming edition, utilizing approximately seventeen sports facilities. Initial registrations are set to commence on June 20, with final submissions due by September 9. Schools have already been issued participation forms to facilitate the process.

The Olympic Committee emphasized the Olympics vital role in fostering a sporting spirit and instilling values of cooperation and healthy competition among students. It also highlighted the pivotal contributions of physical education teachers in spearheading this significant sporting initiative by ensuring inclusive participation and showcasing student athletic prowess. The meeting also revisited the regulatory frameworks of the Olympics, including registration and adjudication protocols.
