Bahrain's School Basketball Team (3x3) has ramped up its preparations for the International School Games, set to be hosted by the Kingdom in October 2024. The selection process began on 4th October, with 40 players from various schools across Bahrain, reflecting efforts to identify and develop young talents.
Mousa Jafar, the team manager, emphasised the importance of this stage, stating: "We conducted a thorough selection process, reducing the number of players from 40 to 30 in the first stage, with the final selection of 24 players to represent Bahrain in six different teams."
Jafar mentioned that the training includes physical and technical activities, such as fitness exercises, game tactics, and skill development, to ensure players are ready for the intense competition. The team undergoes daily training sessions under the supervision of an accredited technical staff, aiming to enhance their physical and technical levels in preparation for the global competition.
Jafar affirmed that the team’s goal is clear: to compete for top positions in the tournament and represent Bahrain proudly on this international stage. He added, "Bahrain's 3x3 basketball team is one of the leading teams in the tournament, enjoying strong support from officials."
He also highlighted the importance of this tournament in fostering sportsmanship and cooperation among students from different countries. Jafar expressed confidence in the players' abilities, noting that the support they receive will enable them to achieve outstanding results worthy of Bahrain.
He concluded: "We are excited about this challenge and look forward to delivering a strong performance during the tournament. Bahrain's school basketball team's participation in this event is an opportunity to showcase our talents, and we hope it marks the beginning of a bright future for basketball in the Kingdom."
