Indian School Dominates Leaderboard at the School Games

The Indian School continues to lead the medal tally at the 6th School Games, having amassed a total of 40 medals—13 gold, 12 silver, and 15 bronze—after eight days of competition. Yesterday’s events crowned winners in badminton, athletics, tennis, and table tennis, with swimming and gymnastics set to begin today.

In athletics, Suneesh Sunil from the Indian School secured first place in the 3,000m boys' race, with his classmate Mohammed Ashiq taking second. Meanwhile, Shivani from Asia School won first place in the girls' race, followed by Nuran Mahmoud from Al-Istiqlal and Manam Hamoud from Al-Hidd School.

In the boys’ relay races, the Indian School claimed victory, followed by the British School and Al-Wisam School. In the girls’ relay, the Indian School took first, Millennium School second, and New Indian School third.

For the boys’ long jump, Sin Cotton of the American School took first place, with Zaid Mohammed also from the American School securing second, and Vedant Raman from Millennium taking third. In the 800m event, Razan Chaudhary from the Indian School claimed first, followed by Ahmed Salem from New Indian School and Sin Sebastian.

In the girls' 800m, Maryam Hussein from Saar School took first place, followed by Jana Maher from the British School and Ridhika Rakesh from Asia School. In the long jump, Liza Aidan from Millennium School secured first place, Jawaher Fadel from Bayan School came second, and Jana Sayed Hadi from Al-Noor School finished third.

The tournament is part of Bahrain’s preparations for hosting the International School Games (Bahrain 2024), which will feature 5,000 students from 80 countries competing in 25 sports. The games will be held across schools, universities, and various sports facilities in Bahrain.

This edition of the School Games includes 19 sports: basketball, handball, beach volleyball, athletics, swimming, fencing, tennis, table tennis, karate, chess, badminton, taekwondo, judo, boxing, gymnastics, cycling, cricket, padel, and sailing.

After eight days of competition, the current rankings are as follows:

  1. Indian School: 40 medals (13 gold, 12 silver, 15 bronze)
  2. Muharraq School: 8 medals (5 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze)
  3. Modern School: 10 medals (4 gold, 4 silver, 2 bronze)
  4. Al-Rawabi School: 8 medals (4 silver, 1 bronze, 3 bronze)
  5. British School: 5 medals (4 gold, 1 silver)
  6. Britus School: 9 medals (3 gold, 6 silver)
  7. Asia School: 15 medals (3 gold, 4 silver, 8 bronze)
  8. Al-Wisam School: 6 medals (3 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze)
  9. Sheikh Isa Bin Ali School: 6 medals (3 gold, 3 bronze)
  10. Muharraq School: 4 medals (3 gold, 1 bronze).
