Bahrain’s national women’s volleyball team have stepped up their preparations for the Third edition of the GCC Volleyball Championship, which will be staged in Bahrain later this month.
The tournament, scheduled to be held from November 8  to 17, will see five out of six nations – Bahrain, the UAE, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait competing at Isa Town Sports City’s Bahrain Volleyball Association facility in Riffa.
Led by national tactician Abduljalil Al Aradi and assistant coach Ahmed Saleh, the Bahrain team recently played a string of friendly matches against local volleyball clubs ahead of this week-long challenge.
The squad yesterday (November 6) entered a closed training camp at the Golden Tulip Hotel where they started an extensive twice-a-day sessions programme in an attempt to help the players reach top form.
Meanwhile, the team’s morale has received a significant boost ahead of the tournament as they were visited by Bahrain Olympic Committee member Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa.
Shaikha Hayat, the Women’s Sport Committee chairwoman, met the team officials who briefed her on the squad training programme and progress with 72 hours remaining to the championship kick-off.
Speaking to the players during the visit, Shaikha Hayat said she was pleased to have this edition tournament held in Bahrain, and commended the players discipline and their high spirit during training and wished them success.
