?The Executive Committee of the GCC National Olympic Committees’ Presidents yesterday (November 10) accepted a proposal from the Bahrain Olympic Committee to have  table tennis and taekwondo competitions for women at the Second GCC Games in 2015 in Saudi Arabia.This was announced on the third and penultimate day of the GCC Sport Summit, being held at the Sheraton Hotel’s Al Taj Ballroom in Manama, where the Executive Committee members had their 78th meeting.A number of topics were brought up as part of the committee agenda during the meeting, the most significant of which is to form a team, headed by Kuwaiti Olympic Committee general secretary Obaid Al Anezi, to invite Jordan, Yemen and Morocco to the sport action system in the GCC.The committee also discussed several subjects on its agenda, such as issues related to the GCC Basketball Committee, a report from the Omani Olympic Committee on activating youth programmes, joint action bylaw in the sport field, besides bylaws of GCC Games and GCC Beach Games.Qatar’s preparations to host the second edition of the GCC Beach Games from October 20 to 26, in 2014, as well as means of co-operation between Jordan and Morocco, and the GCC Sport Organising Committee Award were among other issues discussed yesterday.The committee also held talks on the types of nutrition provided at sports village when hosting GCC Games, and reviewing the decisions of the Ministerial Council in its 127th term plans of the GCC Games Organising Committees for the remainder of 2013.Bahrain Olympic Committee acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar chaired yesterday’s meeting, which was attended by general secretaries of the GCC National Olympic Committees.They were Saudi Arabia Olympic Committee’s Mohammed Al Meshel, Mohammed Al Kammali of the UAE, Taha Al Kishri of Oman, Kuwait’s Obaid Al Anezi and Mishal Al Khalifa of Qatar.Representatives of the GCC General Secretariat were also present at this meeting, including assistant secretary general for Humanitarian and Environmental Affairs at the GCC General Secretariat Abdulla bin Oqla Al Hashim of Saudi Arabia, Abdulmajeed Al Saadi, Ahmed Al Hamidi, Ali Al Sindawi, Ahmed Al Jaber and Mohammed Al Marri. The summit got underway last Friday with the coordination and follow-up committee meeting, followed by the consultative meeting on Saturday.These two meetings represent a prelude to yesterday’s session, as well as the 12th joint meeting of the Executive Committee and the GCC Sport Organising Committees.Meanwhile, the programme is scheduled to conclude today when the 12th joint meeting of the Executive Committee and the GCC Sport Organising Committees takes place at 10.30am at Al Taj Ballroom. It will be attended by GCC Sport Organising Committee representatives. This regional summit is organized annually all over the GCC, as it highlights a number of key sport related issues in an attempt to develop sport in this part of the Arab world.
