Bahrain’s top bodybuilder Sami Al Haddad was given a special welcome on return from Birmingham, in the UK, where he recently took the 2014 IFBB Bodypower Championship title.
Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, along with Bahrain Weightlifting and Bodybuilding President Shaikh Abdulla bin Rashid Al Khalifa, and high-ranking sports officials from both parties were present at Bahrain International Airport to greet the bodybuilding champion.
Askar hailed Al Haddad’ victory and noted the outstanding performance of the Bahraini bodybuilder in the event, in which some of the world’s top athletes were in the fray, and affirmed that the achievement underlines his abilities to compete on an international level.
Shaikh Abdulla shared the same thoughts as he expressed pride for the remarkable result achieved by Al Haddad in the championship and stressed the association’s commitment to continue its support to the Bahraini bodybuilder to enable him accomplish further victories, and wished him progress.
Al Haddad won the men’s bodybuilding 212 Professional Division’s trophy after halting a fierce challenge from several prominent bodybuilders.
He completed the main show ahead of his main opponents Shaun Joseph Tavernier of Great Britain and American Mark Dugdale, who settled for second and third place awards, respectively.
Al Haddad’s victory came a few days after winning his first-ever IFBB pro show in Slovakia, where he topped the 212 Professional division against Almohsinawi, who bagged second-place award.
He was followed by Canada’s Robert Belisle, Marian Cambal, Raul Carrasco Jimenez and Pierre Chamoun of Sweden who took places from third to sixth.
