?Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) board member and chairwoman of the Women’s Sport Committee Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa recently visited Bahrain women’s volleyball team, who are preparing for the Fourth GCC Women’s Sports Tournament.
The regional competition has been scheduled to run from February 2 to 12 in Sharjah, in the UAE, and will bring together teams from around the Arab region to compete in a number of sports.
In her visit, Shaikha Hayat met Bahrain Volleyball Association president Shaikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, chef de mission Maryam Mirza and other members of the delegation, and was presented with the training programme of the team and their preparations for the coming event.
Shaikha Hayat urged the players to give their best in the tournament, and live up to the aspirations of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the king for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and BOC president, who recently launched a new slogan ‘Only Gold’ that represents a new challenge for Bahrain athletes on the regional and international levels.
She noted that the previous edition of the tournament saw some impressive results for Bahrain in 2016, and wished them success in this year’s competition.
