The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Training and Leadership Committee yesterday (Saturday, Jan. 3) has set up its plans and programmes for 2015 in line with the visions of the leaderships in the GCC.
Among the programmes approved for the New Year are two seminars in the UAE and Saudi Arabia in April, in addition to a training and qualifying course is scheduled to take place in Oman in August.
Other events include a teamwork management course which will be held in Qatar in October, while Bahrain is hosting a ‘positive psychology’ course in December.
This was announced after the committee had its fourth meeting at K Hotel in Juffair, Bahrain.
Saudi Arabia’s Sultan bin Mohammed Suwailem chaired the meeting, in which a number of important issues on the committee agenda were brought up.
Some of the subjects discussed included a presentation of second edition of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamada Al Khalifa Scientific Research Award in the field of sport, which was presented by award general coordinator Asama Al Kaabi.
A short film was the then presented by the Bahrain Olympic Committee’s Sports Training and Development Section on the GCC Training and Leadership Committee history.
Section head Nabeel Taha stressed the importance of the GCC Training and Leadership Committee in the development of the youth and sports sectors, and expressed pride that Bahrain will embrace the first-ever positive psychology specialised course in the GCC in June this year.
The committee also decided to have a seminar on Physical literacy, as well as presenting the Canadian and British programmes in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, respectively, at the next meeting scheduled to take place in August in Muscat.
The meeting was also attended by Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar and other committee members.
They are Mahmood Abul and Musaad Al Qattan of Kuwait, Abdulla Al Shamsi of the UAE, Shafiq Al Hashomi of Oman, Abdulrahman Al Hajri of Qatar, Nabeel Taha and Ali Qamber of Bahrain and secretary Farraj Al Farraj.
The GCC Training and Leadership Committee is one of the joint action committees at the GCC General Secretariat.
It is aims to prepare and qualify and provide training programmes to develop the performance of the leaders in the gulf region in the fields of youth and sports.
