High-ranking sports officials touched down on Bahrain yesterday (Monday, November 10) ahead of the 19th meeting of the GCC Women’s Sports Organising Committee taking place in the Kingdom.
Shaikha Naima Al Ahmed Al Sabah of Kuwait, chairwoman of the present GCC Women’s Sports Organising Committee term, is in Bahrain to chair the committee meeting held last night at the InterContinental Regency Hotel in Manama.
She was welcomed on arrival by Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) member and Women’s Sport Committee chairwoman Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa.
Shaikha Hayat, along with BOC Sports Associations Affairs executive director Jehad Khalfan, also received Qatar Women’s Sport Committee chairwoman Ahlam Al Manea and GCC Handball Organising Committee chairman Sultan Al Hosani, who arrived later in the day.
The committee also includes sport committees chairwomen in the GCC Sayyida Sana bint Hamad Al Busaidi (Oman) and Noora Khalifa Al Suwaidi (UAE).
Yesterday’s meeting was held on the sidelines of the week-long Fourth GCC Women’s Volleyball Championship, being held in Bahrain.
