Third GCC Women’s Games

?Bahrain hosted an exceptional edition of this Games by all standards and achieved notable successes on different levels, which emphasized the organization capacity and efficiency enjoyed by the Bahraini cadres in hosting various sporting events.
The opening ceremony was held under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of His Majesty King Hamad and President of the Supreme Council for Women, at Khalifa Sports City Gym in Isa Town Sports , in the presence of GCC  teams representatives and a good crowd.
The Games attached a record 839 participants, including 370 players, 160 administrators, 124 referees and 152 technical committees’ members.
There were eight sports competitions during the Games, namely, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, athletics, athletics for the disabled, bowling, shooting and taekwondo, as athletes from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman participated in all games, while the United Arab Emirates was unable to take part in table tennis, while Qatar did not compete in bowling.
