?Bahrain’s national swimming team has resumed its preparation for the remaining races at the World Championship Series at Hamad International Complex for Water Sport in Doha.
Al Zain Tareq (100m freestyle, 100m medley, 50m butterfly), Maryam Al Arayyed (100m freestyle), Abdulaziz Darraj (11m freestyle & 50m freestyle) and Sanad Abdulla (50m backstroke) are representing Bahrain in this major international meeting.
Al Zain became the first Bahraini swimmer to have reached the finals of the World Championship Series after coming seventh in the 200m medley race in 2 minutes and 54.62 seconds.
The 11-year-old promising swimmers put on one of her best performances in the competition, breaking her personal best by 6 seconds and securing a spot in the world series finals amidst huge applause from the audience.
Al Zain, who was ineligible to compete at the 2016 Rio Olympics for being under 14 years of age, now holds Bahrain Swimming Association’s hopes to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The Bahrain delegation to Doha is being headed by Bahrain Swimming Association board member Dr Maryam Mirza and includes coach Dhaen Al Amer and swimmers Abdulaziz Darraj, Sanad Abdulla, Al Zain Tareq and Maryam Al Arayyed.
