?Four training courses, organized by the Bahrain Olympic Committee’s Sports Training and Development Section, got underway yesterday.
Organized in cooperation with the Education Ministry, these courses are in line with the Sports Training and Development Section annual plan, aimed to qualify Bahraini officials in the field of sport.
The courses, which conclude on January 22, are being held simultaneously. They include a training course for athletics teachers, which is managed by former Bahrain sprinter and present Bahrain Athletics Association board member Ruqaya Al Ghasra, and is taking place at Al Khansa Girls School.
The second course, which also covers athletics, is open for male teachers. Sessions for this particular course is being conducted by Mohammed Bakhsh at Khalifa Sports City Hall in Isa Town.
Um Kulthoom School is hosting the aerobics course, which is run by Saeeda Ateeq, while the fourth course focuses on basketball skills. It’s being run by national coach Ali Hussain from the Bahrain Basketball Association.
All the participants have graduated from the National Coaching Programme, organized by the Sports Training and Development Section in cooperation with the Coaching Association of Canada.
These courses feature theoretical and practical sessions, at the end of which the participants will undergo the final exams.
Meanwhile, Sports Training and Development Section executive coordinator Mahmood Yateem said he was pleased with the consistency of the joint courses adopted by the Bahrain Olympic Committee and the Education Ministry since 2007.
“We are also planning to have similar courses in June this year and will be presented by some of our best instructors,” said Yateem.
Yateem noted that this fruitful partnership has helped the section to qualify more than 700 physical education teachers across Bahrain’s boys and girls schools.
