Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar praised the National Sports Medicine Centre role in providing advanced medical solutions for national team athletes and to the public.
This statement was announced after the recently-launched first specialized sports medicine clinic at the centre, which is located at Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town.
Askar said that the new clinic, which is supervised by Dr Francisco Chapman of Cuba, is the committee’s maiden step towards developing the centre services to national team athletes and other sportsmen in Bahrain.
“We are so proud to open this first-of-its-kind clinic in Bahrain, which is in line with the directives of representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and BOC president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa,” said Askar.
Askar said the committee will continue its plan in order to boost the centre by introducing more clinics offering more services and doctors of other specialties from Finland, Czech Republic and Belgium.
“Our ultimate goal here is to provide a perfect treatment environment for the visitors to promote medical tourism in the Kingdom of Bahrain”.
“The opening this clinic is a first step towards transforming the sports medicine centre into a sports medicine hospital, providing high-class injury analysis, treatment, and rehabilitation for all athletes around the world,” added Askar.
Meanwhile, the committee is planning to use the laser treatment of sports injuries as a new technology to be used for the first time in the Gulf region.
