Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) member, women’s sport committee chairwoman and head of Bahrain delegation to the Fourth GCC Women’s Games Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa asserted an honorable participation for Bahrain at the Fourth GCC Women’s Games in order to achieve the best results.

Shaikha Hayat noted that Bahrain had succeeded to win first place by a large margin at the third edition of the games, which the kingdom hosted two years ago.
This statement was announced during the first coordinating meeting held at the BOC premises in Seef, where representatives of the sports associations taking part in the coming games were also present.
The fourth edition of the GCC Women’s Games is scheduled to take place in Muscat from March 8 to 19, as kingdom will be competing in nine sports – volleyball, basketball, handball, athletics, bowling, taekwondo, endurance horse ride, shooting and athletics for special needs.
The meeting was to look into the needs of the sports team ahead of the games, as well as to follow up the arrangements made before the teams departure.
Shaikha Hayat was also briefed on the timetable of the teams’ arrival in Muscat and return, as the delegation directorate urged the sports associations’ representatives to submit the lists of their respective teams’ members soon in order to finalize the necessary procedures.
Representatives of sports associations present at the meeting were Fahad Al Kathlan and Shawqi Al Haddad (handball), Haider Al Zubi (equestrian and endurance), Asma Al Kooheji (volleyball), Sara Al Shawi (disabled sports), Talal Malalla and Abdulla Khalil (basketball), Abdulla Al Raees and Khalid Al Khaja (bowling), Tawfeeq Nuwaiser (self defence), Ahmed Al Ahmed (shooting), Ruqaya Al Ghasra and Khadija Al Aradi (athletics).
From the BOC side, the meeting was attended by BOC Arab public relations head Mohammed Al Zayed and delegation director Dr Maryam Mirza and deputy director Maryam Mardana.
In the third edition of the games, which the Kingdom of Bahrain hosted from March 3 to 13, in 2013, the host country came on top in the overall medal tally 53 medals in total.
