?Shaikh Saqer bin Salman Al Khalifa chaired the first board meeting of the Bahrain Triathlon Association, which was recently founded as per decision by Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
At the beginning of the meeting, Shaikh Saqer welcomed members of the board and congratulated them on being selected for this electoral term, which will be a great motivator for him and all the board members to  pull off to achieve success in promoting this sport in the Kingdom.
Shaikh Salman stressed the importance of putting up all efforts and have a teamwork spirit in order to achieve the goals for which this association was founded for, and should be consistent with the visions and strategy of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and the Economic Vision 2030, stressing the need to attract the private sector as an important partner for their role in achieving the objectives of the association.
Also during the meeting, designations and tasks were distributed on the board members, as Yousef Al Thawadi was elected vice president, Mai Al Haji as general secretary, Abdullah Al Shamlan as assistant general secretary, Abdul Mohsen Al Gosaibi as treasurer, while Abbas Mousa and Sarah Al Sammak complete the board.
The working committees were formed and they include the Competitions Committee, which will organize seven competitions in Bahrain and the GCC region.
The Preparations and Training Committee will be in charge of refining the talents and develop the sport, while the Public Relations Committee will be assigned to communicate with various media and social networking forms.
A coordinator was appointed to coordinate between these three committees, which will be supervised by the association management.
Heads of these committees are yet to be appointed, and should be from the elected from the board, while the committee membership should not be limited to on Bahrainis. It will be open to expat residents in the Kingdom.
