?HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, highlighted the achievements of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), affirming that accomplishing them wouldn’t have been possible without the the direct guidance and support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain. HH Shaikh Nasser underlined that HM the King has been the first and main supporter to the sporting movement in Bahrain, applauding the wide-ranging accomplishments which have been earned under HM’s prosperous era.
HH Shaikh Nasser’s remarks came during HH’s meeting with Bahrain Olympic Committee’s (BOC) Board Members and staff on the occasion of HH receiving the ANOC Merit Award and the BOC winning the Outstanding Progress Award. Both honours were granted by the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) during its General Assembly meeting in Doha, held recently. The BOC has been acknowledged following the gold-medal achievement recorded by Bahraini athlete Ruth Jebet in the 3000m steeplechase race during the previous Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, the first recorded by the Kingdom of Bahrain in such an event.
During the meeting, Mr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar delivered a speech and on behalf of BOC expressed his utmost pride and honour to extend to HH Shaikh Nasser the sincere congratulations of BOC’s Board Members and staff on the occasion of HH being conferred the ANOC Merit Award, which is the highest honour given by ANOC in recognition to individuals for their outstanding administration efforts in the Olympic sports area.
