?Bahrain’s endurance 13 elite triathlon team’s recent achievement of qualifying for the Triathlon World Championships in Austria was hailed by high-ranking sports officials in Bahrain.
Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar congratulated the team, who were ensured a place in the finals through the Iron Man 70.3 Triathlon Championship held recently in Mallorca.
His Majesty the King’s Representative for Charity and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa led a strong squad to secure their first-ever berth in the Triathlon World Cup, which takes place in Austria next August.
Among 4,000 international contenders, Bahrain Endurance 13 Elite Team member Daniela Ryf finished the three stages of the championship first, scoring 4:17:25 time. Daniela was able to complete the swimming challenge in 00:23:14 hours, cycling race in 2:29:31 hours and the 21.1 km run in 1:20:01 hours.
Shaikh Nasser finished the three stages of the championship in 04:42:43 time. He finished the 1.9 km swimming challenge in 00:28:16 hours and the ninety km cycling race in 02:37:10 hours, before he finished the running contest in 01:29:55 hours.
BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar said he was extremely delighted over this victory, adding that qualifying for the World Cup is considered the biggest achievement in the history of the Bahraini triathlon sport.
Askar also stressed that Shaikh Nasser, through this accomplishment, has once again promoted Bahrain’s sport stance internationally and successfully led Bahrain’s triathlon team to another international competitions.
He noted that the achievement made in Spain was the fruitful of the great support provided by HM the King for the youth and sports movement in Bahrain. 
“Qualifying for the World Triathlon Championship in Austria is a great responsibility that requires doubling efforts to attain further achievements amid the participation of the game’s elite international players,” he said.
Askar added that Bahrain’s qualification for the international championship has come after winning first place at the Mallorca Ironman competition, which announces a promising future for the team in upcoming tournaments.
