?The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), organisers of the School Mini Olympics, had a technical meeting with schools taking part in the fifth edition of the event that will run from March 8 to 22.
Staged at the National Stadium’s conference hall in Riffa, the meeting was started with technical committee head Lounes Madene, who thanked all schools for their cooperation with the organizing committee to prepare for this year’s Mini Olympics.
Madene urged the schools to pay attention to the age of their athletes who will compete in their respective events, and not to submit any players who are registered in any national club.
Late on, representatives of the national sports federations made a presentation on the rules and regulations of all competitions this year. This was followed by question and answer sessions.
This year’s mini Olympics will be brought in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, with more than 3,000 students from 57 government and private schools, in the fray.
Twenty sports in total have been confirmed this year the two-week sporting gathering, including four team sports – football, 3-on-3 basketball, volleyball and handball.
The remaining sports are table tennis, athletics, cricket, hockey, swimming, water sports, cycling, fencing, tennis, badminton, gymnastics, judo, karate, taekwondo, jiu jitsu and karting.
