?The role of Bahrain’s governorates in implementing a key project created by the Premier League in England was brought up yesterday (Tuesday) during a key visit of an English Premier League official.
On the second day of meetings, Premier League Public Affairs Head Tim Vine and Bahrain Olympic Committee’s International Affairs specialist Matthew Dixon had discussions with representatives of the four governorates in an attempt to create a community-based sports project in Bahrain.
They had talks on the possible venues to host the activities as well as the kind of sports needed to be conducted for the project. The importance of continuing the programmes being provided by each governorate for the young people was also among significant issues reviewed at yesterday’s meeting.  
“Everyone ‘Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, the Bahrain Olympic Committee and the General Organisation for Youth and Sports’ should work together to create a strong system to give the opportunity for young people to engage in  sports activities across the kingdom,” said Dixon.
In his presentation, Dixon talked about a number of issues that are essential in implementing this first-of-its-kind project in Bahrain. The project has been carried out in the UK as well as 25 countries all over the world, including Brazil, India, the US, and regional nations like Qatar, Egypt, Tunisia and Sudan.
Late on, Vine delivered his presentation, in which he focused on premier league community strategy, besides a short video on the facilities and grassroots and support them through investment.
Sports participation, education and skills and the premier skills programme were among other points presented by Vine and was admired by the governorates representatives.
Attending the meeting from the governorates side were Northern Governorate director of Social Pogrammes and Society Affairs Ali Al Arabi, Capital Governorate’s Society Affairs head Salah Buzaid, Southern Governorate’s Senior Community Afffairs specialist Rashid Al Nuaimi and Muharraq Governorate’s Social Affairs director Adnan Al Sada.
Meanwhile, Vine’s visit concludes today when he visits the Bahrain Football Association to meet its president Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa to discuss possible cooperation in order to apply this project in the Kingdom.?
