Reece Bhave raced to victory in the boys secondary stage aquathlon at the Third School Mini Olympics. The aquathlon featured competition for boys and girls was staged along Ritz Carlton the beach in Seef area.
The British School runner completed the challenge, which featured a 300m swim followed by a 2,000m run in Zallaq area, in first place.
Clocking 16 minutes and 40 seconds, Bhave was followed by Fawaz (23:20) of Kanoo International School, and Danyal Azhar (23:57), who took the silver and bronze medals, respectively.
In the Intermediate stage event, which started with 200m swim followed by 1,500 run, Lam Marsha of the British School finished first to win the competition’s gold medal in seven minutes and 33 seconds.
Behind him were St. Christoper’s Brandon Marshal (8:24), who settled for the silver medal, while Adham Juma (8:38) of the British School received the bronze.
There was also a race for the girls intermediate stage, which was dominated by St. Christopher’s School students who took all three positions.
Arbells Rashtom showed skills and stamina to win the gold medal in 10 minutes and 29 seconds. She edged school mate Amalie Neilson (10:30), who came second, with Laura Adamson (11:07) rounding off the podium.
The day concluded with the winners receiving their medals from representatives of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, the organisers of the third mini Olympics.
Coordination and Follow-up Committee head Mamoon Al Khateeb thanked the volunteers of the aquathlon events for their huge efforts during the races, which was exceptionally well organized.
