?The 2018 Olympic Day, which is celebrated all over the world, will be staged in Bahrain on Friday, July 20, the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) announced yesterday (Tuesday).
This year’s event, scheduled to tip off at 5.30pm near the Bahrain Football Association premises in Riffa, is organized by the BOC in cooperation with the Bahrain Road Runners (BRR), which is under the Bahrain Athletics Association.
BRR will be conducting 3km walk-run races around the BFA football pitches’ dedicated track to celebrate the occasion. It is open to everyone and registration will take place from 4pm onwards at the venue on Friday.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant secretary general and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) secretary general Abdulrahman Askar said the committee is putting the finishing touches on this edition of the event.
Askar extended the committee’s keenness to promote the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect and encourage universal participation in sport.
He commended the efforts of the organising committee in fulfilling their tasks and urged them to keep up the pace to live up to everyone’s aspirations in bringing a very successful and tremendous Olympic Day this year.
Askar also expressed appreciation to the BRR for their support and contributions to bringing the event this year.
