?Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) board member and Women’s Sport Committee chairwoman Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa congratulated Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan Al Saud on being appointed as undersecretary for women at the General Authority for Sports.
The appointment was announced following the weekly cabinet meeting, which was chaired by Saudi Crown Prince, Deputy Premier and Interior Minister Prince Mohammed bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Shaikha Hayat commended the decision, which underlines the noticeable efforts exerted by Princess Reema towards women’s sports in Saudi Arabia, and wished her progress.
Shaikha Hayat also welcomed the strong cooperation between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia to further reinforce women’s sports reputation in both countries.
While she was studying toward her degree in museum studies, Princess Reema interned at L’Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris and at the Sackler Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
On returning to Saudi Arabia in 2005, she assumed the position of CEO at Al Hama LLC, a luxury retail corporation that managed brands including DKNY and Donna Karan in the Middle East.
She served for several years as the CEO of Alfa International, a leading luxury retail corporation that operates the Harvey Nichols store in Riyadh. She has featured in the 2014 list of the Forbes among 200 strongest women in the Arab World.
