The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) has started its preparations for the 2016 Olympic Day, which is due to take place on June 23.
A committee, tasked at making all the arrangements for the annual occasion, was formed. Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar named BOC Strategic Planning Director Hasan Abdullatif as chairman of the panel.
The committee includes representatives of the BOC – Lounes Madene (race chairman), Hamad Al Baker (federations chairman), Hasan Ali (media), Mamoon Al Khatib (Secretary and Follow-up), Fadi Humaidan (Side Activities), Mohammed Al Modaweb (Public Relations), Sima Al Kharraz (Marketing) and Rashid Abdulla (Services).
Askar stated that the Olympic Day celebration is one of the important annual events promoted by the Bahrain Olympic Committee as the whole world celebrates this special occasion by organising a group of sporting and entertaining activities in an attempt to promote the principles of the Olympic values, ideals and Olympism.
The BOC general secretary also urged the athletes to adhere to the noble Olympic principles, which focus on fair competition, respect while reflecting the bright image of their nation and striving to reach highest levels of athletic achievement as well as mutual understanding and friendship among people from around the globe.
“The outstanding success of last year’s Olympic Day at the Bahrain International Circuit with all its well-organised activities and makes us strive even harder to achieve great feedback from the attendees expected to witness this year’s event,” said Askar.
