The Bahrain Olympic Committee’s (BOC) physical performance laboratory has welcomed a group of athletes in different sports following its launch recently.
Members of Bahrain’s bowling and athletics teams visited the laboratory and made a number of physical tests to evaluate their most recent physical performance level.
Projects director Lounes Madene has invited all national teams’ athletes to come and benefit from the services available at the laboratory, located at Khalifa Sports City in Isa Town.
“The physical performance laboratory is open to all sports federations and is available to serve national team players in its first stage, while in the second phase, the facility will be open to the public,” said Madene.
Dr Vladimir Felipe Suarez of Cuba, the physician in charge of the lab, said the available machines include the ECG – which detects any abnormal heart cases, in an attempt to prevent sudden unexpected death syndrome.
The facility has the VO2 max, which measures the efficiency of heart during exercises, specifically running, and get to know more about whether there are any heart issues.
Other equipment are the body composition analysis, which analyses the fat ratio, muscle and water, in addition to lower limbs explosive power measurement system, of which the person makes several leaps to measure the lower muscles.??
