?The Bahrain Olympic Committee’s (BOC) Projects Directorate organized an introductory seminar for a group of national teams’ coaches on the services available at the physical performance laboratory, which was launched recently.
The lab, which is under the umbrella of the BOC, is now up and running officially, providing medical services for all athletes in Bahrain.
Dr Vladimir Felipe Suarez of Cuba, the physician in charge of the lab, told the coaches about different abilities of the lab as well as its tests running for the athletes to discover simple to moderate level of illness and ways of taking full advantage of these equipment to help in their recovery process.
Suarez, who has a vast experience in the field of sports medicine as well as in operating physical performance laboratory, said the facility is open to all athletes and to the public, and that available machines include the ECG – which detects any abnormal heart cases, in an attempt to prevent sudden unexpected death syndrome.
The facility also has the VO2 max, which measures the efficiency of heart during exercises, specifically running, and get to know more about whether there are any heart issues.
