?More than 2,000 young athletes have so far confirmed their entries for the this month’s Fourth School Mini Olympics, organized by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), and will run from March 16 to 30.
This year’s edition of the Mini Olympics, to be held in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, will involve schools from across the kingdom to compete in 14 sports events, including football, basketball, volleyball and handball.
The remaining sports confirmed are table tennis, athletics cricket, hockey, swimming, water sports, gymnastics, taekwondo, jiu jitsu and karting.
The Preparatory committee of the Fourth School Mini Olympics had a coordinating meeting, headed by Lounes Madene, to look into latest arrangements and preparations for the festivities.
Committee members also agreed on the activities at opening ceremony as well as other programmes on March 19, while the competitions will take place at three main sports venues.
They include three sports gyms at Isa Sports City in Riffa, in addition to the Bahrain Handball Association in Um Al Hasam, Al Najma Club gym in Juffair and the Bahrain Football Association grounds in Riffa. Khalifa Sports City, located in Isa Town, will also embrace part of the competition.
