?The organizing committee of the 2017 Bahrain Olympic Day, organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), was recently formed.
Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar issued a decision declaring the formation of the panel, being headed by Hasan Abdullatif.
This panel, tasked at preparing and organizing this year’s event, consists of eight standing committees, with Lounes Madene named head of the Competitions Committee.
Other members are Hasan Ali (Media), Fai Buallai (Federations & Activities), Marway Ahmadi (Secretariat & Follow-up), Fatma Al Atawi (Information Technology), Ma’amon Al Khatib (Public Relations), Fadi Humaidan (Services) and Yaqoub Abdulmohsin (Finance).
In his statement, Askar urged the standing committees to begin their preparations well ahead of the event, which achieved tremendous success and received positive feedbacks in the past editions.
Askar noted the outstanding success of the Bahrain Olympic Day last year, organised in partnership with the nation’s four governorate and other authorities representing the government and private sectors, and drew significant attention from Bahrain’s different communities.
The Olympic Day is celebrated all over the world on June 23 every year, during which National Olympic Committees hold a set of activities to mark this occasion.
The Olympic Day mainly seeks to promote the fundamental principles of Olympism and encouraging exercising, besides instilling the Olympic spirit among athletes worldwide while calling to adhere to the noble principles of Olympic movement, based on fair competition, friendship and respect.
