?The organising committee of the 2015 Olympic Day yesterday (Thursday) visited the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir where this year’s event will take place on Friday, June 12.
This year’s edition of the Olympic Day is organized by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) as Bahrain joins other countries from around the world to celebrate this special occasion.
Members of the organising committee, headed by Fajer Jassim, inspected the locations where the side activities will be held on the day. The programme of the 2015 Olympic Day will include a wheelchair race performed by athletes from the Bahrain Disabled Sports Association, in addition to a sailing race involving four boats will be put on by the Bahrain Maritime Sports Association.
Moreover, the Ministry of Interior will also be taking part with 70 athletes in the running race, to be organized in cooperation with the Bahrain Athletics Association’s Bahrain Road Runners.
The Olympic Day is celebrated all over the world on June 23 every year, but the Bahrain Olympic Committee decided to hold it 11 days earlier as it clashes with the Month of Ramadan.
It will be held under the patronage of the personal representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
