The BOC is committed to providing performance and fitness assessment testing services to all sections of society, including elite athletes, adults and youth, in order to promote and monitor healthy sports and physical exercise at all levels.
The Center was established in 1981 under an agreement signed between the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports, and the United States Sports Academy. The agreement included the establishment of a Sports Physiology Laboratory targeted at elite individual athletes and members of national sports teams, to assess their physiological and functional level of respiratory and metabolic systems for physical effort and muscular abilities.
In 2015, the scope of the existing laboratory was enhanced with the addition of state-of-the-art equipment, and its services extended to the general public to undertake a set of required tests for a reasonable charge, before starting physical activity.
