The organizing committee of the 56th ICHPER.SD Anniversary World Congress and Exposition has stepped up its preparations for the event, which will be held in Bahrain from December 18 to 20.
The organising committee had its fifth meeting with the standings committees to follow up latest preparations to embrace this three-day international congress, to be held in the kingdom for the first time.
The congress is held in cooperation with the International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance (ICHPER.SD) and the University of Bahrain.
Chaired by Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, the meeting was to present all updates of the standing committees – media, finance, public relations, marketing, IT, transports, coordination and follow up, ahead of the congress.
ICHPER vice-president Dr Adel Al Nashar said he was relieved by the preparations of the standing committees in the past, which underlines the eagerness of the organizing committee to host a special edition of the congress in Bahrain.
Dr Al Nashar also commended the role of the University of Bahrain, which holds responsibilities for the scientific part, such as printing the research, judging and scientific committees.
He said 50 physical education teachers from the Education Ministry will be taking part in the seminar and workshops, to be held on the sidelines of the congress.
A total of six workshops will take place during the congress about women’s sport, sport for all, partnership and marketing, fitness, the Olympic movement, science and sports performance.
More than 100 research have been submitted already, which would enrich the themes of the congress, which will have various key subjects, such as professionalism, marketing, clubs privatization and sports facilities investment.
The research abstracts should be handed over by November 5 while the manuscript submission date has been extended till November 20.
Some of the congress objectives is to promote active lifestyle and how important it is related to personal, physical and mental health and also promote general physical activities in the Kingdom.
The congress, will focus on the theme ‘Towards building a new sports system’, and is in compliance with the directives of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and BOC president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in an attempt to link science with sport.
