Bahrain’s jiu jitsu champion Seena Monfaradi was given a warm welcome from Abu Dhabi where he took an impressive bronze medal at the Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, held recently here at the Khalifa Sports City.
Monfaradi clinched the bronze medal of the 62 kg category of the male Master Black Belt in this event after stiff battle with some of the world’s best jiu jitsu athletes.
Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, Bahrain Self Defence Federation president Ahmed Al Khayyat, vice-president Omar Bukamal and other senior officials congratulated Mondaradi on his result.
Askar said winning the bronze medal while challenging some of the world’s most professional jiu jitsu athletes underlines the advanced level of the Bahraini athletes and the noticeable support offered by the Bahrain federation to this particular sport.
The BOC general secretary also commended the performance of Monfaradi during the championship and his fighting spirit, which played a significant part in the achievement.
On his part, Al Khayyat extended congratulations to the kingdom’s leadership, as well as to His Majesty the King’s Personal Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sport Chairman and the Bahrain Olympic Committee President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa whose support for the Jiu-Jitsu sport, he said, has yielded fruitful results.
Al Khayat paid similar tribute to the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport and the founder of KHK MMA Organisation, Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, stressing that he is a grater supporter of the self-defence sports in the kingdom.
