MMA team returns

?Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar welcomed members of the Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts team on return from the Europe Open Championship in Bucharest.
The team took four medals in total during the event, held from June 18 to 22. Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation president Khalid Al Khayyat was also present at the team reception.
Murtada Ali won the gold medal in the weight of 93 kg, Ali Yaqoub and Zubair Ghazi took a silver medal each in the weight of 61 and 70 kg, respectively, while Youssef Sayar took the bronze medal in the weight of 77 kg.
Askar congratulated the team on this achievement and conveyed the greetings of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and BOC President.
Askar noted that this achievement is a result of the country’s leadership to the federation and its athletes, and also hailed the efforts of Al Khayyat in developing sports in Bahrain and the dedication of the athletes at regional and international competitions.
